FAQs
What is padel:
Invented in Mexico in the late 1960s, Padel is a fun & addictive mash-up of tennis and squash. Nearly always played in doubles on an enclosed court (about a third the size of a full-size tennis court) with walls made of glass and metal mesh. Scoring is the same as in tennis, but rackets have no strings and are typically made of carbon fibre or fiberglass, while the balls differ slightly in size and pressure to tennis balls.
How to book a court:
Booking a court is easy - no membership required. Simply download the Playtomic app (on Apple or Google), find our club page and select a date & time. You can book a court 7 days in advance, whilst those with Padel+ can book 14 days ahead.
How much & how long are the sessions:
Prices start from £9 per person (off-peak, 60mins, £36 to book the whole court) up to £12 per person (peak, 60mins, £48 to book the whole court). The majority of our bookings are for 60mins, however, you can book up to 90mins or 120mins on Court 4 - all via the Playtomic app.
Do you provide equipment:
Rackets are supplied free of charge with all bookings at Club de Padel. New balls can be purchased at the club. Players must provide their own suitable sports clothing and footwear.
Padel rules:
We’ve created a handy list of padel rules here to help you get started.
What are your opening times:
We are open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm, offering up to 60 game sessions per day, or 420 per week!
Is there a membership option:
We are committed to introducing as many new players to Padel as possible, which is why our courts will always be open to everyone on a pay-to-play basis (with no membership required). However, we understand that some players require more assurance when booking courts, which is why we launched Padel+. Padel+ is limited in number and offers early access to court bookings (14 days in advance, instead of 7 days), discounts on bookings, offers on equipment, and priority access to Club de Padel events. You can sign-up for Padel+ on mobile via the Playtomic app, just head to ‘Memberships’ on our club page.
Do you have parking:
Due to our premium city centre location, there is no free parking on-site. However, players can access discounted parking in the New Jackson Citipark underground next door on Silvercroft Street (M15 4AX). Download the Citipark app and prebook parking for 2 hours (it has to be 2 hours to receive discount) using the Promo code NJCLUBPC30.
What’s the difference between a Private / Open match:
In the Playtomic app, you can book a private court, or play an open match. You can find a list of the differences here.
What about cancellations & refunds:
Players can cancel bookings via the Playtomic app up to 24 hours before the match to receive a full and automatic refund. Within 24 hours, a cancellation/refund will only be applied if the courts are deemed unplayable (at the Club’s discretion - see ‘Weather conditions’ below). Public/Open matches with with 1 Player will automatically be cancelled 4 hours before the match begins; with 2 Players, 2 hours before; and with 3 Players, 1 hour before.
Weather conditions:
Club de Padel’s courts are built on top of a fast-draining permeable tarmac and feature an all-weather, artificial surface, which allows for play in wet conditions. Therefore, the club will not cancel/refund bookings due to rain, only during severe weather conditions (high winds, snow, thunder & lightening). The courts will be deemed unplayable at the club’s discretion and communicated to players where possible.
Can I learn to play:
Whether you’re just starting out or well on your way to becoming an accomplished player, Club de Padel offers coaching for all abilities and ages. You can find our coach-led group sessions on our club homepage on Playtomic under the ‘Academy’ tab. You can also join our dedicated Coaching Whatsapp group here to speak with our team of coaches.
